Once of seven sections of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is quickly emerging as the federation’s most intriguing tourist destination. Business -- especially the financial and real estate industries -- is booming here. Grand skyscrapers, including a structure planned to be the world’s tallest building, dominate the skyline. The “Pearl of the Arabian Gulf” glitters like no other spot in the Middle East.

There’s no end to the attractions in this stunning city. World-renowned souks, including two dedicated to gold and special spices, are popular stops; so, too, is the Grand Mosque, which boasts the city’s tallest minaret. The Burj Al Arab Hotel, fashioned in the shape of a giant sail, sits along the main shore and beckons to visitors in need of high tea or other comforts. Then, of course, there’s the beach, with miles of sparkling sands available for a day of fun in the sun.
