This busy fishing port on Norway’s Mageroya Island faces the Barents Sea and is the capital of Nordkapp. Nearly everyone who disembarks here wants to visit the North Cape Plateau, about 20 miles from Honningsvag. The plateau is Europe’s northernmost point and lies about 900 feet above sea level. Most visitors pose for a photo next to the cliff-top globe sculpture, usually illuminated by the midnight sun on 77 nights of the year. You can also tour a fascinating museum in Honningsvag that deals with North Cape heritage, or explore a nearby nature reserve.
