Kuala Lumpur is an enormous capital, famous for the Petronas Towers, the world’s tallest buildings until recent construction in Dubai. Cruise visitors arrive at the deep-water port of Kelang, some 90 minutes away by automobile. But this is a good thing, because between the two locations are two of the area’s finest sights. First, the Salahuddin “Blue” Mosque, the largest in Southeast Asia, has the capacity for more than 16,000 worshippers, and its minarets are the second tallest in the world. Second, the Batu Caves contain a Hindu shrine at the top of 272 stairs, where dozens of monkeys live. The National Museum and Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown are also popular attractions.
