There’s no end to the spectacular natural beauty of this Norwegian town, which occupies a scenic spot on the northern shore of the Romsdalsfjord and commands stunning views of more than 220 snowcapped peaks. Visitors will find small wooden houses, parks, gardens and tree-lined avenues in tranquil Molde, which is nicknamed the “town of roses.”

The Romsdalen Folk Museum is comprised of 40 homes from the 14th to the 20th centuries that were relocated here from other parts of the region, each still containing its original furnishings. A fishing island on a nearby island also is worth a look. You also can travel up the fjord arms to soak up the dramatic scenery of the Eikesdalen Valley and the Mardalsfossen Waterfall.
