Some notable people are said to have called Salalah home over the centuries. The legendary Queen of Sheba kept a palace in this city on the southern coast of Oman, and the ruins that remain are featured on many guided tours. The Sultan of Oman keeps a summer home here -- Al Husn Palace is easily spotted on the south side of Salalah, set against the city’s most scenic beach. The tomb of Job, a figure featured in the Christian Bible as well as a major Islamic prophet, can be found here. Frankincense is a major industry in Salalah, and guided tours often include a stop at a farm for frankincense samples, as well as a visit to the Manreef Caves, famed for its spectacular blowhole displays during high tide.
