Trondheim is Norway’s third largest city and one of the most popular ports in the west coast fjord region. As you look south along the scenic Trondheim Fjord, you’ll see verdant forests and valleys. Look north, and you’ll see the start of the vast Arctic Ocean. Top sights for tourists include Stiftsgarden, which is the official residence of Norway’s royal family, and the Archbishop’s Palace. Take your pick from several museums, including one devoted to the decorative arts, with 16th-century ceramics and art nouveau items. Head to the 18th-century Bakklandet district for the best bars and eateries.
